Amerge Drug Interactions

In the case of Amerge, drug interactions may occur when it is taken with other medicines, such as certain antidepressants, ergot medications, or triptans. Some drug interactions with Amerge can increase your risk of experiencing serious side effects. For instance, taking Amerge with antidepressants such as Prozac can cause a group of symptoms known as serotonin syndrome, which can be very dangerous. Therefore, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about any Amerge drug interactions that may apply to you.

 

An Overview of Amerge Drug Interactions

Amerge® (naratriptan hydrochloride) can potentially interact with certain medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to Amerge interactions include:
 
  • Ergot medications, such as: 
o Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
o Ergotamine (Bellamine S, Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
o Pergolide (Permax®
