Drug Interactions With Frovatriptan

As with any medication, there are potential drug interactions with frovatriptan. Taking frovatriptan with other medications, such as some antidepressants, MAOIs, or triptans, can cause potential problems. Some of these interactions can increase your risk of dangerous side effects or cause serotonin syndrome, which can be very dangerous. Talk to your healthcare provider about potential drug interactions with frovatriptan that may apply to you.

 

An Overview of Drug Interactions With Frovatriptan

Frovatriptan succinate (Frova®) can potentially interact with many medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to frovatriptan interactions include:
 
  • Ergot medications, such as:
o Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
o Ergotamine (Bellamine S, Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
o Pergolide (Permax®) 
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:
