Information on Headaches
A headache occurs when stress, muscle tension, or other triggers stimulate pain-sensitive nerves in the head, face, mouth, or neck. Headaches are among the most common symptoms experienced in society today, affecting approximately 90 percent of men and 95 percent of women at some point.
A primary headache occurs without an underlying condition; the most common types of these headaches are migraines, tension headaches, and cluster headaches. Secondary headaches are due to an underlying cause, which your healthcare provider can determine based on certain information and testing. If you experience fever, convulsions, or confusion in addition to head pain, seek immediate medical attention.
