Zecuity Drug Information

Adults who suffer from migraine headaches may receive ZecuityTM (sumatriptan transdermal). This prescription medicine comes as a skin patch that is applied on the upper arm or thigh as soon as a migraine starts. It delivers the medicine to the bloodstream using an electric current.

Although most people who use this medicated skin patch tolerate it fairly well, side effects are possible. Common ones include pain, warmth, and itching at the application site. Fortunately, most reactions to the drug tend to be mild and easy to treat.

While this drug can be effective, Zecuity is not appropriate for everyone. Information on your medical history should be reviewed with your healthcare provider before using it to minimize your risk for certain complications. This includes warnings for people who have certain allergies, those with an irregular heart rhythm, or women who are pregnant or nursing.
