Zomig Drug Info

People who experience chronic migraine headaches may be prescribed Zomig® (zolmitriptan). This medication cannot prevent migraines, but it can help relieve symptoms once a migraine starts. It works by narrowing the blood vessels in the head that often become dilated (widened) during one of these headaches.

When Zomig was studied in clinical trials, 59 percent to 67 percent of people with migraines had no or mild pain within two hours of taking this medicine, compared to only 16 percent to 44 percent of people who did not take it. Similar results were seen with both the tablet and nasal spray forms.

If your healthcare provider has recommended Zomig, inform him or her about any other drugs you are taking and any other medical conditions you have. This will help ensure that the right treatment option is used for you.
