Generic Imitrex

At this time, generic Imitrex is available in four strengths. The generic versions are only available in tablet and injection form -- it is unknown when the nasal spray will be available in generic form.

Can I Buy Generic Imitrex?

Imitrex® (sumatriptan succinate) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to treat migraine headaches. It is part of a group of migraine medications known as 5-HT agonists (or more commonly called "triptans").
 
Brand-name Imitrex is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. Generic versions of Imitrex tablets and injection are currently available. Generic Imitrex nasal spray is not yet available, and it is not clear when a generic version may be available.

Generic Imitrex is available in the following strengths and forms:
 
  • Sumatriptan succinate 25 mg tablets
  • Sumatriptan succinate 50 mg tablets
  • Sumatriptan succinate 100 mg tablets
  • Sumatriptan succinate 6 mg per 0.5 mL injection.
