Imitrex Drug Interactions

Among the drugs that can potentially interact with Imitrex are ergot medications, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), and certain antidepressants. Imitrex drug interactions can increase the level of Imitrex in your blood or your risk of dangerous side effects, among other things. Also, taking Imitrex along with certain antidepressants can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. Some of these symptoms include hallucinations, sweating, difficulty walking, and a fever.
  

An Overview of Imitrex Drug Interactions

Imitrex® (sumatriptan succinate) can potentially interact with many drugs. Some of the drugs that may lead to Imitrex interactions include:
 
  • Ergot medications, such as:
o Bromocriptine (Parlodel®)
o Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
o Ergotamine (Bellamine-S®, Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
o Pergolide (Permax®)
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:
