Inderal LA Uses

Among the licensed uses of Inderal LA are relieving angina symptoms, controlling high blood pressure, and improving symptoms of hypertrophic subaortic stenosis. Inderal LA is not approved for use in children, but it may be used off-label to treat some conditions seen in children, such as Marfan syndrome. Among the other off-label Inderal LA uses are treating anxiety disorders and hyperthyroidism.

An Overview of Inderal LA Uses

Inderal LA® (propranolol hydrochloride sustained-release) has been licensed to treat a number of conditions. These Inderal LA uses include:

High Blood Pressure
A blood pressure reading consists of two numbers (for example, 120/80). The top number is known as the systolic blood pressure, and the bottom number is the diastolic blood pressure. High blood pressure (hypertension) is defined as an average blood pressure higher than 140/90.

In clinical studies, Inderal LA has been shown to significantly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The higher the dose of Inderal LA, the greater the drop in blood pressure is expected to be. By lowering blood pressure, Inderal LA can decrease the risks that occur with long-term high blood pressure (see Effects of High Blood Pressure). Inderal LA does not, however, cure high blood pressure.
