Lavender is sometimes used as an herbal remedy for medicinal purposes. It is claimed to be beneficial for a number of conditions, such as hair loss or depression, and can be taken orally, used as an essential oil, or applied to the skin. While it is not known exactly how lavender products work, some of the compounds of the plant appear to have sedative, anti-spasm, anti-seizure, anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving effects.
