Tension headaches often start in the middle of the day. They may start slowly and gradually increase as the day progresses. Left untreated, the tension headache may last for hours or a day or two.
Tension headaches can strike as often as several times a week, or as rarely as once every few years. Tension headaches that occur more than fifteen days per month for several months are known as chronic tension headaches.
